Eating Habits
For a dancer energy is key! To receive that energy we need to eat right. Eating fruits and vegetables helps you get energy to dance and perform at your best! Some snacks to take to dance are protein bars, yogurt, fruits, vegetables, and small sandwiches. These snacks are light yet healthy and give you energy on a long day of dance when you have to be there for several hours. Some healthy fruits are strawberries, apples, watermelon, oranges, lemon, banana, cucumber, kiwi, lime, mango, blueberries, and grapes. Healthy vegetables include broccoli, carrots, celery, corn, radish, and peppers. This is just some ideas of things to eat but of course your eating is up to you! Depending on what you like, make your own platter of! Whether its a sandwich with a fruit cup or chicken with some veggies that is all up to you! SO make your platter your own! Also don't forget dancers its important you sneak in a few sweets once in a while because sugar helps you on a long day of class and rehearsals!
Hydration
Hydration is a number one factor in dance! Without hydration we would always be dehydrated. The healthiest thing you can drink to stay hydrated is water of course! Water keeps the body flowing and is a refreshing drink when your all hot, sweaty, and tired. If one day you prefer to not drink water and want to go for something with a splash of taste drink Gatorade! Gatorade has great flavor and keeps you hydrated. It also gives you lots of energy to keep dancing and/or performing. We don't recommend you drink a high sugar drink like Coke, Fanta, etc. That will give you a sugar halfway through your performance or class. Make sure you always stay hydrated while dancing!
